First impressions

The phone is very sexy and really does catch the eye.

The size and weight is not an issue at all and its no bigger than the NK 6210i.

The menu is based on the V800 and the menu system is more or less standard.

The camera is excellent and it works and feels like a digi camera. Most SE's now have this style.

I will write a better review when I get time

Here is some pics hosted somewhere, so we dont lose the quality and look of the pics

Excellent - thanks for those! The buttons look nice and big (unlike the T610...) and the screen looks very bright and evenly lit. It looks undoubtedly like a phone, unlike some of the other 3G handsets available, 6680 included perhaps, that look like a whole new kind of device. I can't wait to hear how you get on with it :)

Btw... what's that fantastic looking forum you're viewing on your laptop? ;) ;)

Top stuff Jon, looks great.

I have concerns about the "dumbing down" of handsets for the mass public though. I know most people only want to make calls and I suppose it's a good way to get people onto the UMTS networks, but I don't want to miss out on any advances/technology etc.

The handset looks super, super branded! I remember the days when it was only Orange that put their little square onto things.. Voda have gone to town there!

Update

The phone is very good if you want a phone with 3G services and not bothered about the "smartphone" offering. However I am very much a techie and I have really warmed to this phone, despite the lack of tech.

The phone is small and compact and has most functions the average user would want in a phone. The screen is very bright and the camera is good.
The phone has the normal functions
Bluetooth
MP3 player
Infra red
Radio
Colour Screen

I am going to keep this one till the N70 comes out.

9/10 for the phone despite the lack of smartphone features

Afterall we dont all need a smartphone

Yes it looks very cute. I suspect to gain acceptance there will have to be more basic 3G handsets. Technology tends to frighten lots of folks and they want something familiar that they can use without learning lots of new stuff.

I expect the SE V600i and the Samsung Z500 willl prove very popular for Vodafone. Interesting to note that CPW have now placed both on the home page of their website (I suspect Vodafone might have made a small contribution towards the cost of this prominent placement). Looks like the gloves are off now and Vodafone intend to attack the market pretty heavily in Q3 and Q4.

Vodafone are also marketing both the handsets you discuss heavily on the online channels at the moment too - there are lots of creatives going around, mostly for 18 month contracts on the Samsung. Coupled with the hundreds of TV ads I've now seen for Passport and Stop the Clock it looks like a pretty major push is underway.
