An interesting news article that will inevitably have applications in Mobile Phone technology in general and maybe 3G in particular given the promise of higher network data speeds which will likely prompt higher [local] storage requirements. Already we are seeing mobile (music) phones with HDDs coming on stream and so Samsung's announcement would appear to be quite timely.

Note that the anticipated ETA is 2006/7 - not that far off.




Hard drives are living on borrowed time and will be replaced with solid-state Flash memory, according to Samsung's semi-conductor CEO Dr Chang Gyu Hwang.
