Hey guys,

Right ive had a Sharp 902 for round 3 to 4 months id like to think i know pretty much everything about the phone. So im going to give you the lowdown on the Sharp 902.

2.0 Megapixel camera
Right this feature is brilliant the camera is excellent theres alot of choice when it comes to taking pictures. For example theres options for continuous shoot which can take up to 9 pictures in a matter of half a second and they can be passport photo size if you want them that way. Also you get bright multi colour lights excellent feature great for night time recording. Also through the 2.0 megapixel camera you can record video as well as taking pictures. Look at the next topic down for my video review for the 902. The camera is excellent the shutter nice and fast and the picture is crystal clear. You can take pictures from 120x128 to 1224x1632 size so theres plenty of choice on what quality picture you want. You can also swivel the screen round and record yourself of just flip the screen round onto the phone and use it in Digital camera mode which is brilliant.

Video
On the sharp 902 there are plenty of options for the video feature such as the ability to use digital zoom or optical zoom. Also you can save videos in MPEG 4 mode which is brilliant quality. You can also you the external light feature which is great for night time recording. You can either record in using a small screen space showing what your recording or put the picture full screen which is properbly best. One of the best things about the Sharp 902 is the fact that you get a 32mb SD card included with the phone itself which allows up to 5 minutes of recording, but you can upgrade to a 1gb SD card which you can save a 2hour DVD quality video onto if you have a SD card reader/writer which is brilliant for long journeys. The video quality is really good so whatever you record you will always get a great output from the 2.0 megapixel camera.

Games
Well the Sharp 902 includes 1 game which is 'Dragon Island' this game is included on many phones however on the Sharp 902 it is fantastic quality. The colours stick out at you and are so vibrant. The quality of the 902 3D game engine is great and you wont be dissapointed. On many occasions you will see the graphics for 902 games are much better then Gameboy advance and Playstation consols properbly coming close to Playstation 2 graphics which is good news for you gamers. Currently there arnt many games available for the 902 as the games on the 902 are full screen unlike other phones. However over the few coming months im sure we will get some great games.

Vodafone Live & Wap through 3G
Right well 3G technology these mobile companies have spent a tone on it but is it really as good as they say. From my personal oppinion i expected a much faster service from 3G. Vodafone has a totally new menu system for the new 3G phones like the Sharp 902 so the menus are bigger and the live menu system is much larger in size much more information is available to access. However the speed is quite annoying on occasions it goes quite slow then suddenly it shoots up. Viewing the ITV news headlines on Vodafone live are great you get the option to stream or download the clips. Downloads usually start of slow for a few seconds then just speed up really fast so thats good and that goes the same for streaming videos. Although football and ITV news headlines usually cost round about 50p - £1.50 each vodafone offer people who have just switched to 3G a free 3 month pass so you can access ITN videos, football highlights and movie trailers free for 3 months so thats good news for people thinking about upgrading.

Media Player
The sharp 902 also offers a media player which you can play music files like MP3's in or MPEG and ASF video files. You can even sort out a playlist if you want. As long as you have a reasonable sized memory card you should be able to store whatever you want. The 902 also has built in surround sound speakers which you can use for the media player when watching a movie or playing some songs and the quality is brilliant.

TV output
Well this is tricky, Vodafone have managed to kind of do this. Games and MPEG videos on the phone can all be played back from the 902 on your TV through the TV cable supplied with the 902 itself. To activated the TV output go to Menu > Settings > Display Settings > TV output and change it to ON. Not everything is going to play back on your TV so keep that in mind but it is quite good once you get the hang of it.

Ringtones, Internal Memory & Bluetooth
Properbly some of the most important things about the phone. Although the Sharp 902 can store MP3's vodafone have once again locked it so you can not set MP3's as ringtones. However you can get a converter to convert songs into MMF format which you can set as ringtones on your mobile. The Sharp 902 comes with 8mb built in memory which can store quite alot of stuff even though you wouldnt think so. Bluetooth has also been included in the 902 model which is brilliant if you have a bluetooth adapter. You can transfer MP3 files and .JPEG pics to your mobile.

Key Features:
1) 2.0 Mega Pixel Camera - Fantastic quality pictures very hard to beat by other phones on the market.

2) 3D gaming - Great use of colours, the Sharp 902 plays games full screen unlike many phones who dont use all the screen when playing games.

3) Great Video and Audio player - Media player provides great output from media files that sound and look brilliant so you wont loose any quality.

Overall you will find that the Sharp 902 is a fantastic phone, some companies wont even reach the technology that the 902 has for a while yet. So if your looking for a phone that will still be in with technology in 4 or 5 years from now the Sharp 902 is a great choice.

I hope that helped guys making up your mind if you want the 902 or not. :D

That's a great review Gagz, thanks, and welcome to Talk3G!

It looks like quite a big phone, do you find it large when you're using it or carrying it around?

blah yeh Red one is pants. Na the 902 battery is really good u dont really need to charge it up for like 3 - 5 days depending how much you use it. I think if are like on it 6hours + a day then your gonna have 1 heck of a phone bill but the phone will be charged for 3days or so. And if your not on it alot say 30mins - 1hour a day then it will last a good 5days maybe more.

Lmaooo woo i weigh the same as my phone :D

Can I take it then that the length of video recording on the 902 is only limited by the size of the memory in the phone? If so then that has made my mind up because I have always found it an annoyance with the motorola phones that can take a gig card, that they still impose a timelimit on video recording.
