I was completely gobsmacked to read this article at the Beeb's technology website. It rathers gives the impression that, with the new wave of 3G and hi-tech videphones, we "ain't seen nuffing yet".

Europe's first film festival for movies shot with mobile telephones opens this weekend in Paris.

I think mobile film is a fantastic idea, not least because it breaks down the realities of extremely tight distribution channels in mainstream cinema. Mobile distribution of content could be really revolutionary if operators stick to open data access and increase their MMS caps to allow for useful amounts of data to be exchanged.

Mobile phone footage proved invaluable in the London bombings, and recently in the Pakistan earthquake. Channels like the Beep now have dedicated video and picture numbers. What we capture on our phones sure is going to change the face of the media, yet again, and it looks like rolling news and film are already feeling the impact.

Oh yes, for sure. Check out the likes of http://www.scoopt.com and http://www.spymedia.com - 3G in general and Camera phones in particular are making changes we could not have anticipated just a couple of years ago.
