Hi all,

I'm currently using the Motorola E1000 on 3. I quite fancy the A1000 instead though.
However, either way, I want my new phone to allow me to use TomTom navigation software. A pal has it on the XDA2, and reckons it'll work on the A1000 but, no-one seems to be able to confirm.

Can any of you peeps help me, seeing as the Carphone Warehouse cant?

Also, I was told by Phones4U that, the Nokia 6680 is compatible with TomTom - is this true?

Many thanks
Lee

Hello,

A quick (and rough) google suggests that Tom Tom NAVIGATOR 5 is available as follows:
Tomtom Mobile 5 for Nokia 3230, 6260, 6630, 6670, 6680
Tomtom Mobile 5 for Nokia 6600, 6681, 7610, 7710
Tomtom Mobile 5 for Nokia 9300, 9500 communicator
Tomtom Mobile 5 for Sony Ericsson P900, P910i

6680 should be fine. Welcome to Talk3G!

Nice one cheers.

Shame the A1000 dont work, although the AA do one that works on all Symbian phones.

Shows you how little shop staff know dont it, both Orange and Carphone Warehouse told me, TomTom didnt work on the P910

Anyway, cheers for the info

Also .......... the Motorola A1010 is due out any time real soon now (apparently Q4/2005). It is an upgrade on the A1000 of course. Meanwhile you can have a dribble :) while looking at it here http://www.mobilegazette.com/motorola-a1010.htm

Re Tom Tom Mobile 5 - it may be worth contact one of the regular GPS suppliers to see if it can run on the Motorola A1000/A1010. I can't see too much of a reason why it wouldn't as it is a Symbian UIQ device similarly to the SE P9xx series. But better safe than sorry when spending upwards of £200 for the software. Although Tom Tom's own website says the following about which phones it supports:
. Imate: SP3 , SP3i
. Motorola: MPX 220 (Only in Benelux, UK, Aus,Swiss)
. Nokia: 3230 , 6260 , 6600 , 6630 , 6670 , 6680 , 6681 , 7610 , 7710 , 9300 , 9500
. Orange: SPV C500 , SPV E200
. Qtek: 8010 , 8020 , 8060 , 8080
. Sony Ericsson: P910i
. T-Mobile: SDA , SDA Music

But there are alternatives that specifically claim to be compatible with the A1000 (see here http://www.nhgps.com/info/a1000_gps_software.html ). Although I cannot vouch for it in terms of how it stacks up against Tom Tom.

Good luck, and please let us know what you end up with :D
