I've got the Data Transfer tool installed on both 6600 and N70. I want to move all my contacts from my 6600 to my N70. When I start it up on my 6600 it just says 'Waiting for connection' but it works straight away upon loading on my N70. Thing is, there's nothing to copy from the N70!

Is there another way to copy contacts because I think it must be something with my 6600. It detects the N70 when I send a picture but not with the Data Transfer tool. Highly frustrating.

How odd! Is Visibility set to Shown to All in the bluetooth settings on the N70?

You could a) copy everything to your SIM card or b) sync with Outlook/Windows Address Book on the 6600 then sync that address book with the N70.

Wot data transfer tool? Is this just for Nokia or is it more generic?

Series 60 has a data transfer application that copies contacts, callendar and gallery data via Bluetooth to your new phone. I guess it's just another reason why people seem to go S60 and then never leave!

Thing is, I'm kinda tight for time because my Orange sim goes dead on Monday and my Voda sim gets activated..

Am not really having any luck I'm afraid. The N70 is visible to the 6600 because I sent a pic via bluetooth from 6600 to N70. I've also paired the devices..

You say copy them all to the sim? Might be an idea. I've got 341 contacts and 200 spaces on my sim. Damn I didn't realise what a pain this was going to be. Have no idea how to sync the 6600, don't have any cables or such like to do so.

What data cable would I need? It's being completely stubborn and refusing to work. Could somebody send me the Transfer Tool to my email or something, somehow. Might be a corrupted version of the tool on my 6600. Also, will all my contacts be ok after my Orange sim goes dead? All the contacts are on the phone because there's not enough space on the SIM.

I'm a bit annoyed because it should be so easy.

After the 247th time of trying to get it to work it mysteriously and magically forced itself to copy everything over. Brilliant N70.

Cheers very much everyone.

Lol.. nice one.

Glad you got it working in the end.
I dont know where I'd be without Outlook Sync in regards to my contacts nowadays.. its so handy.

But yeah - that transfer tool is brilliant.
(once it works!)

Just FYI - contacts should still be accessible on a SIM after it has been deactivated... they were on my last one anyway, but it's still a bit risky!

I bought a SIM Backup keyring thing off Firebox.com just to keep a backup safe. Thought that would be the best thing to do. Was only £8 or something.

He'd need either a bluetooth dongle or a cable, and I'm guessing you have neither, Ginz? :S

Get a bluetooth dongle - so useful!

What cable would I be needing?

The standard Nokia USB-to-pop-port one, mine came with my 6680. *But*, if you get a bluetooth dongle then you've got a connection to any bluetooth-enabled phone you ever buy. That said, USB is probably more straightforward.

Wait!!!!! The N70 does not come with a USB/Pop-port cable? Surely not!

I'm talking about the 6600. Will the same cable work that came with teh N70. It's packed in the box, haven't actually checked. The cable I got with the N70 doesn't work with the 6600 so what cable you recommend me buying for the 6600?

Actually, come to think about it I don't need one anymore! Transferred everything over to the N70.

Exactly.
So now everything's on your N70 you can back up all the info and syncronise your contacts etc using the USB 2.0 Data Cable that came with your N70 right?

Right.
Cool.

It's brilliant used the data suite and cable with the N70 and it's all good. So far loving the N70 and everything to do with it.
