D'oh!
Had Text Centre all this time and never thought to go into the options! You can have Outlook automatically use it to text you every time you receive new email, and/or when you have an appointment coming up. Pretty awesome if, like me, you get tonnes of free text messages. If only I'd realised this feature existed while Text Centre was free! (well, it's not free from 1st Feb)
I mostly use a web based email account that includes free SMS alerts of new email, so until now I've greatly missed such notifications on my Talk3G stuff.
So yeah, if you're a Vodafone customer and you use Outlook, there's one more reason to try Vodafone Text Centre.
