Vodafone and T-Mob have signed deals with BenQ mobile to bring HSDPA able handsets to Europe this summer. It seems all the operators will have HSDPA on the go by the end of this year if what's coming out of Barcelona is to be believed! We shall see. I'll get my hat ready for eating.

BenQ Mobile is showcasing its EF91, an ultra-3G handset model supporting HSDPA (high speed download packet access) technology, at the 3GSM World Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain from February 13-16. Today's Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) indicated that the Taiwan handset maker has secured an order for the model from T-Mobile and Vodafone, with a launch in Europe slated for this summer.

BenQ Mobile declined to comment on the report, citing customer confidentiality.

BenQ Mobile on February 13 unveiled the EF91, the company’s first handset model to support HSDPA that allows video clips and television recordings to be viewed directly from the Internet in real time on the two-inch color display of the EF91. The EF91 has a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, digital zoom, and camcorder functions. A Bluetooth headset clip and Bluetooth are some of the accessories for the EF91.

The EF91 will be available in the summer of 2006 in different color variations with prices to be determined locally, according to BenQ Mobile.
