I'm putting this here because I always forget it! Works on pretty much all Sony Ericsson handsets.

Where > and < are directional keys and * is the * key on the keypad.

Most excellent <FX: rubs hands together> :D

And you get a pretty little test menu to play with too - and bags of info, such as which phone locks are on or off (i.e. Service Provider, saves you paying to get the handset unlocked if it already is!).

do you know how to read the firmware version for the k800i? it doesnt have > < buttons only a joystick. I tried your code with using joystick movements but no go. I see this is an old thread but maybe someone knows about the k800i?

Try that again, I read elsewhere that sequence of joystick and "*" key movements/presses does work on the K800i. I dont have one myself, but others are reporting the sequence works, as they are quoting items off the Service Menu that comes up subsequently.

It does work, I have the k800i and tbh don't undersatdn how it doesnt work for you.

Have the start screen open then press;-

Right (on stick thingy)
*
Left
Left
*
Left
*

Then the menu will open automatically
