Well according to some dude claiming he was from three, who was trying to get me to upgrade to some stupidly expensive price plan.

If that was from someone at 3, i'd replace the "definetely" with maybe!!!
I lost count how many times I was told the 6280 would definetely would be out from 3 !!!!! In the end I gave up and got the v3x.
Will more than likely get the n80 later this year tho....

The N80 WILL DEFINATLY be on 3. However it looks like it's due out in May for contract users.
This comes from inside 3

The N80 will almost definitely be available on all the UK networks. They all carry the N70 unless I'm mistaken, and the N80 is the next major Nokia S60.
Not too much longer to wait now...

After talking to o2 today they are quoting the first 2 weeks of May as the release but they are reporting no issues with it unlike the 6280 which they are saying the have a stock date of next week.

Orange are saying mid-April for the n80, which is about... now? I think it'll be Vodafone 1st out the blocks, unless somebody's paid Mr Nokia a little bit more cash in a briefcase. That is how these deals work is it not? Should we get a sweepstake going? In fact, that's what I'm going to do! I'll put the link back here in a minute!
Get the official N80 release date on this thread: http://www.talk3g.co.uk/showthread.php?p=12305&posted=1#post12305

I also phoned up orange, but last week and they said it will be mid-may.
I have a 6680, and one downside is the orange main-screen. Is the N80 goning to have the same. Be nice if we have to option to use it or not!

It is currently extremely likely that Orange will brand the hell out of the N80, yes.
However, Mobile has it that Orange are increasingly looking to third parties like Carphone Warehouse to source their own stock for Orange connections. Whether this stock still has to be reflashed with the Orange firmware I have no idea... I'd strongly imagine so.

are vodafone still heavy on branding?
I guess its still only t-mobile and o2 that barely do anything to their phones?

There seem to be a few online phone shops that are taking pre-orders for around the start of May. Surprisingly cheap i.e. free handset on a £30-£35 per month contract both 12 and 18 month.

Expansys have the stainless steal (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=127499) version sold out already, but also list the yummy pearl black version (http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=136174) as orderable on request.
Mobilefun (http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/10255.htm) are still quoting 1-2 weeks on delivery, and prices everywhere for SIM-Free seem to be hovering above £500.
On to the unknowns, Blue Unplugged (http://www.blueunplugged.com/Products/Sim_Free_Nokia_N80_Mobile_Phone.aspx) boast the ex-VAT price and quote 11 days for availability, while the only other site I found was selling in dollars.
The 6680 just kinda 'arrived' pretty much universally on the SIM-Free front. The N80, however, still seems to be dripping in, ever so slowly, keeping prices artificially high and availability non-existent.
