As the Summer Holiday season is now upon us, I thought it would be good to have a wee thread where the Talk3G'ers can post hints/tips on how to save as much money on your phone bill when travelling abroad!

So if anyone out there knows of particular Pay & Go Sim cards that can save a packet OR an International Add-On off sorts to save us Brits a bomb, then please let us all know!!

There are tons of these on sale both in the UK and internationally. Traditionally I have bought a local PAYG but I may opt for something like Maxsim (no not the magazine!!!) from http://www.maxsim.co.uk/our_products/simcard.asp for example. Here for £29.99 you get an International roaming SIM - calls to the UK from Turkey cost $0.39c - they charge in USD, so that is something like £0.24p per minute. Top up can be made on-line from any web browser (i.e. Internet Cafe etc...).

Also looks interesting is 0044's Global SIM card which has a UK phone number so only costs UK people 0.12p per min to call you. Calls to UK are £0.22ppm, Texts are £0.8p each. Initial card cost is £29.99 (they all seem to be that price!).

I've no connection with the above ... just found it doing a Google Search (http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_s&hl=en&q=roaming+sim+card&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB&btnG=Google+Search).
