I found this one pager on Vodafone's website. Clearly they haven't given up on Videocalling completely. Now all they have to do is make is more affordable, like MMO2, and tariff it at the same rate as voicecalling.

Video calling

Brighten up someone's day with video calling. With this new service you can see the person you're calling while you talk - much more personal and fun than a voice only conversation. It's great for when you want to see how someone's feeling, want to show them something, or simply want to get closer. Share a special moment, put a face to the name, or just let your folks see your brand new pad. It's the next best thing to being there!

Getting started

To make or receive video calls you will need a video calling capable phone in a 3G service availability area.

Take a look at our Vodafone live! with 3G phones online or visit
your local Vodafone store for further information.

How does it work?

It's as simple as making a voice call. You simply hold your mobile phone in front of you and use hands-free. To make a call, call the number and press the video call button. To receive a video call, press the accept video call button.

Had a late one last night? We know there are times when you just won't want anyone to see what you look like, thanks very much. Not to worry, when you receive a call, you can choose whether or not to turn the camera on, plus you also have the ability to turn the camera off at any time during any video call.

The standard Vodafone to Vodafone mobiles rate for video calling is 35p per minute and the standard Vodafone to other networks rate is 55p per minute.

Service availability

You can use video calling wherever Vodafone's 3G service is available, which is in and around many UK cities.* You'll always know when you're in a 3G service area because a small 3G symbol will appear on your screen when you switch on your phone. For coverage information click on the service availability link below or ask in a Vodafone store.

3G service availability

So whether you're catching up with a mate in Manchester or, sigh, still at the office in London, you can show them you're still smiling.

*1.Subject to 3G service availability. Further information on where the 3G service is available can be found here or a Vodafone store.

2. The 3G service may be affected by the number of users accessing the 3G network in your cell, strength of signal and your distance from the nearest antenna, factors outside of our control such as atmospheric conditions
