View Full Version : problems playing purchased music on my phone

I've just purchased a tune on the itunes music store. I have v 7.0 of itunes.
I think the copy protection is causing problems because when I send the file over to my n73 it won't play - I get a message saying 'general: system error'. The file shows up with a little broken icon in the file explorer.

Anyone else had a similar problem or know of a work around?

cheers

Hey,

I'm sorry to have to tell you that you can't play iTunes DRM content on your mobile (with the exception of selected iTunes compatible Motos). Neither can you play Windows Media DRM content on your mobile (with the exception of selected WM compatible Windows Mobile devices).

As someone who has experienced much frustration with DRM since its inception at the demise of Napster I can tell you that your best bet for blanket compatibility is to buy CD's (they (http://www.play.com) are (http://www.amazon.co.uk) cheap (http://www.cdwow.com)) and rip them to your PC with iTunes in MP3 format. I use 192kbps as, while variable bitrate can save space, it also doesn't have blanket support.

Digital download music purchasing is a minefield. We can't necessarily blame Apple and Microsoft either - the restrictions are largely at the demand of the labels themselves.

I had a sneaking suspicion that was the case. Bummer.

Thanks!
