From Mobile Today (07/11/2006):

A mobile that switches between Wi-Fi and regular GSM networks launched in 19 Tesco stores this week. The dual mode, GSM and Wi-Fi tovo PocketFone t450g is being sold Sim-free.

Mobiboo, a company that claims to be the UK's first Wi-Fi mobile operator, is offering tri-band handset with a range of prepaid internet call packages, including an international package for customers planning to travel overseas. Local calls cost 2p per minute and international calls cost 5p per minute.

Customers can have a landline and mobile number connected to the phone and the handset will receive calls to either number wherever it is. The t450g costs £160 and comes with a camera as well as text and email functions.

A second Wi-Fi handset has also been released in Tesco called the tovo t1000. It works like a 'mobile landline', allowing users to make free calls to other tovo users when in Wi-Fi areas. The t1000 retails for £80.
