Hi,

A friend just gave me their LG U8110 locked to 3 because I broke mine (no insurance) and am under a 3 contract. I can call people and hear them but they can't hear me. I have never owned this model and wondering if there is a mute/volume button somewhere I've missed or is this a serious problem?:confused:

Hi katrina, welcome to Talk3G - it does rather sound like your LG U8110 has a fault with the microphone, which would explain why others can't hear you. There isn't a mute button on that handset, just volume controls for the earpiece.

The problem may not be serious, it could just be a bit of dirt or contamination between the contacts of the microphone and motherboard. This can easily be sorted, if that is the cause, by dismantling the case, pulling the mic away and cleaning the contacts with methylated spirit (nothing else!!).

If that does not work it is a serious problem with either the mic itself or a fault on the motherboard.
