This new phone from Nokia is now available on 3. Stock over the phone and due into retail stores next week starting Monday.

There is NO 1/2 price rental with the E65.

The 2 main plans (Dirext Texter 1400 + Talker 1000) the phone will cost you £49.99 on a 18 month contract. Make that a 12 month contract and it will cost you £79.99.

Direct Text 950 + Video Talk & Text will be £99.99 on an 18 month or £129.99 on a 12 month.

The E65 is also a new X-Series device so you get full access to Slingplayer, Orb, Skype and so on but you do need X-Series Gold or Silver for this (Costing £5 or £10 a month)

The E65 is a slider phone with a 2.0 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and although at 1st looks you think it would run S40... no no no it is full Series 60 with all the usual features.

Battery time sounds impressive with 400+hrs standby and 300+ mins talktime. On looking in the 3 book, the E65 has the best battery life of any phone there.

Expect to see photos online Monday (Tuesday)...... and oh yes.... i am getting 1! :D :D

Not sure about the 400hrs......

Its basically a 6288 with Symbian S60 and WiFi and designed for business users to use VoIP on PABX's.

The talk and standby durations above relate to GSM use (300 Minutes) not 3G where the talktime is is 150 minutes.

Looks OK but for most folk a 6288 will have all the necessary features and for a premium price I woud be looking at the N95 with its additional GPS functionality and 5MP camera.

No front video camera either, but who uses video calling?

It does have a secondary camera in the top right corner above the screen.... but a valid point that its unlikely to get used for videocalling by many unless on 02 where video calls are charged the same as voice.

Or on a contract where you get free video calling minutes

Not really free though on 3 as you get less voice and text allowance when you opt for a Video Talk and Text contract. 02's videocalls are not free either but dont bite into the massive allowance included for £35 a month!

Inclusive Vs same price videocalls - I know which i would prefer!!

Nokia E65 on 02 £35/month tariff = 600 X/Net or videocall minutes [Videocall pricing guaranteed until 01/10/2007] (Free voice/video Calls every Saturday, Sunday + Monday with 02 Long Weekends) + 1000 Texts - Phone Free!!

Nokia E65 on 3 £35 a month tariff = 750 X/Net mins, 50 Mins Videocalls, 150 Texts, 50 MMS + £5 downloads. Phone Cost = £49.99.

If an E65 is on the agenda there are some options to consider!!

That's the ambient light sensor. The only camera is the 2MP one on the back. I was playing with one last week when a videocall came in & it's as much use as the 7600!

Interesting.... checked mobile gazette and they claim it has but No sign of any videocalling or secondary camera on the Nokia site... so its a business phone really but nice and slim.

In theory all of the E series are die hard business phones. And, with Nokia's 'a handset for every person' strategy, I'm sure they can do no wrong with it.

i managed to talk our store manager into letting me keep 1 in my pocket all day to demo. Its REALLY nice! If you think its like a 6280 you are so wrong. Shame about no video calling camera though. But really solid phone

I found I kept pressing the wrong buttons, the silver ones that do just about everything are too small. But it is cool when it reads out SMS to you whlie you're doing something else.

Why not....just like your home phone.... BT have been doing that with 1571 for years!!!

Now all we need is decent voice recognition then you could speak your SMS to the handset and press send!!

Now if my Nokia could be Tom Baker too, that would be the icing on the cake, that still amuses me no end! :p
