"smart2go (http://smart2go.com/en/) is a compact programme for your mobile that allows you to load maps from around the world. Discover interesting places with ease, highlight them and get the route."

It's nokia owned and apparently will come bundled with new models in the N series. It will also work on S40 and S60 phones.
I've downloaded (http://mobilesearch.nokia.com/index.html) this for my N80. I don't have a GPS device, so I can't comment on how good it's route planning is, but the maps seem pretty good.

This might come in handy if you get lost somewhere.

Just found this news story on it from phonecontent.com (http://www.phonecontent.com/bm/news/gnews/1706.shtml)

Anyone else tried it?

I've found that smart2go link wasn't working, seems you need to delete the index part from the URL once it's in the browser.

I'll get it onto my 6680 and pair it with my GPS and report later in the week! :)

EDIT: Well, I'll try and get it onto my 6680, seeing as it's soooo old now it's not listed! Damn it! I so need a new phone...

Its the same mapping the N95 uses but that has the GPS, I have used it on 3 phones and it is really good.... especially as its free

Hmm, well the URL link I asked to have text to my mobile seems to be a dead one, saying something about it not being supported... worth an update via the NSU do you think?

I downloaded it via the pc, then transferred the file across to the phone. Once installed I opened it, let it try and find a bluetooth GPS and then when it had settled closed it down. I then installed maploader on the pc and transferred some country files over to the phone. Using this method meant I didn't incur any data charges. I have to say that I'm fairly impressed (as much as one can be by having a map on your phone!). I don't think I'll bother getting a GPS receiver as I don't really need it and I'll probably be getting a N95 as an upgrade.
