Just when you thought [with Parallels] that it could not get better ..... along comes .... Fusion from VMWare. The spec looks impressive http://www.vmware.com/beta/fusion/

Bring Unity to Windows and Mac OS X

Say goodbye to the Start menu and Taskbar and run Windows applications directly from the Dock. Minimize Windows applications to the Dock, switch between Windows or Mac applications with Exposé, find and instantly launch any Windows application, drag and drop files between Windows and the Mac, and use familiar Mac keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste between Windows and Mac applications.

Their method of doing "Coherence" is even more stunning from the screen clips.

Considering the cost of upgrading to the latest Parallels 3.0 - I might just await Fusion to come out of Beta and consider that when/if the time is right!

Both seem to have a lot of fans... I'm also considering upping to Parallels 3, but I should probably at least look at VMWare's solution before doing that, what with VMWare being, well, you know, the daddy :p

Their mixed "Coherence" windowing which they call Unity looks so cool http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/screens.html

The link above shows Unity bringing OS X, XP and Vista windows in the same screen fully integrating on the desktop. Its currently $59 with a $20 mail-in rebate, which means the UK buyer will pay the full $79 price. My guess is that we'll end up paying £79 in the shops using the usual $/£ exchange mechanism - which has nothing to do with the financial district's method of monetary exchange.
