Orange is releasing its own range of prepay handsets named after cities of the world. The first device is called the Berlin and is due to launch next month. The second phone in the range will be released in time for Christmas, but Orange would not reveal which city the device has been named after.

The Berlin is a fully specced, 3G device that comes with a two-megapixel camera, an MP3 player and Bluetooth. The slider comes in a matt black finish and will be priced at £69.99. It will only be available on prepay.

Orange device director Francois Mahieu said: 'It's about pushing market segmentation as precisely as we can. We have a very strong demand at the moment for good value prepay handsets which have a very, very affordable price, but still have some high-end features.'

A third-party manufacturer will produce the range of phones for Orange.
