Bigpockets - I've used them for other stuff - this caught me entirely by surprise today

Gosh, that's some old stock! Nice for a collector or someone on the verge of going Mac, though.

Yes,Bigpockets tend to buy in container loads of stuff and bang it out at some real cheap prices. But you have to be careful or at least aware of what it is you are buying. I don't think the G4 was particularly quick - but it is, as you say, a good introduction to Mac, or even to have one or two around to play with XGrid :D

saw that two weeks ago, does not look like they are going quickly.

is a G4 a powerpc processor aka ppc?

Yes, the G4 is the PPC (PowerPC) processor. I don't suppose anyone knowledgeable about Macs will want to buy one, unless as a bit of a toy. But there is enough life in the G4 processors to keep someone going for a year or two before they would feel the need for an Intel upgrade. Unless, of course, the dual binaries stopped coming through - which I think may be inevitable.

I'm just thinking of throwing yellowdog or debian on one.

Mhmmm... the best thing about Macs is the OS. I know the form factor wouldn't be the same, but a £280 Dell server would be better for that.
