Hi
Has anybody else had difficulty with getting a Viewty from 3.
I was due an upgrade last month but was told they are out of stock.
Now im told they wont issue it on Mix and Match priceplan-which i`m sure is wrong.
The 3 stores were not much help either apart from one assistant who blamed 3s new computer system confusing good customers with those who have made late payments (I have two phones LG chocolate flip and LG Shine) for which neither account has been in arrears.
Has anybody else experienced similar problems?
I have been loyal to three for around 4 years despite all the bad press and nightmare of their call centre, and been treated well-upto now!

Hi Welcome to talk3g.co.uk.
It took 3 about 21 days to deliver my LG Viewty. Rumour has it they have been resolving some technical issues but I am of a mind that it is more to do with economics. 3 are struggling to make targets and probably don't want to supply too many high spec expensive handsets. I suspect Viewtys, SE 850is and Nokia N95 8GB's will be rationed and preference will be given to acquisitions.
It's a nice phone, see my initial comments in another thread on the 3 UK section.
Good Luck!!

Hi
Thanks for that.
I will keep on at them.
I understand the need for new customers, but on the other hand i have been told 3 suffer from more "churn" than most networks and as such would want to keep loyal customers.
If I dont have any luck in the next couple of weeks I will speak to the "if your thinking of leaving 3" department and try them.
Glad you are happy with the handset.

Welcome to Talk3G!
The 'thinking of leaving' department is always the best one to talk to when you are out of contract, regardless of your network.
You have to choose your words carefully, particularly with Three who can disconnect a handset with worrying efficiency, but the result is that you'll get a great deal. Just know what you want before you call. If it's the handset you want, on the same tariff, then find a tariff on a rival network that gives you the phone you want and threaten to move to them.

Hi All
I left the matter well alone untill the new year to give 3 time to re stock.
Problem was I had already given my U830 chocolate to my son in December as I expected to upgrade.
So to tide me over I have put a "Roberto Cavalli" cover on it my trusty U880 retrieved from my son after a year of hard use.
No phone shop would do the cover swap so did it meself.
BANG barely any signal till I realised I forgot to swap the antennae over......
Anyway back onto 3 for an upgrade.
Spoke to a lady in their call centre who promised me a "special deal"
When I checked the website there was nothing special about the deal at all!
E-mail to customer services and received a call within 10mins-Hurrah
Another lady said she had read my e-mail and would pass me onto upgrades to sort me out.
Put on hold then on to a guy who knew nothing about my complaint or e-mail.
I have now written to 3 in Glasgow to complain about the fact that nobody bothered ringing when the viewty was back in stock and lack of any incentive to upgrade.
Previously got cashback/line rental discounts and upgraded phone so watch this space.

Kewl :) Always nice to get something as a sweetener for such an experience..... Damn their Indian Customer Service. It ruins an otherwise most excellent experience. I'm terrified of using 3 ever again after being burned by their CS a few times..... But I live in hope :)
Do tell us how you get on ...

Well i got the call on Friday teatime about my letter................
Unfortunately it was from India not Scotland so they presumably scanned it and sent it over there.
I got lots of apologies but what I really wanted was an explanation of why
1/ Both they and 3 different Three shops never phoned me back when the phone was in stock.
2/ Their special upgrade offers were available to all so were not special.
He did offer to put me through to upgrades for a "special " deal again (Here we go!)but I simply asked him to note his system of his call and I would call back.
Am currently checking out the competition and have ordered an unlocked LG KS10 so will wait and see what networks it will work on.

Bummer - CS strikes again! :( They really do know how to snatch defeat out of the hands of success.
If you've much patience left it may do to write an email off to the new CEO, Kevin wotisname (help me here T3G'ers). He won't see it, of course, but it will at least hit the Exec Office where they may take a better view of a customer like yourself who has been a solid supporter and payer of their services.
Of course, they may choose to treat you like some kind of pariah and come over all surprised when you storm off in a huff  But that is the wonder that is 3.
If you are seriously thinking of skidaddling off, I don't think you will do yourself any harm by taking a looksee what T-Mobile have to offer. Just make sure they have the 3G and 2G coverage you need - their 3G is a bit good, and they will soon be able to leverage off 3's 3G network where one exists but the other doesn't.

Thanks for that guys
I will check out T Mobile but first need to get my KS10 and see if it is fully unlocked as promised.
Im assuming getting it to work on three wont be as straightforward as the other networks and if this is the case I will have no option but to leave anyway.

Rang the 3 Upgrades team yet again and they finally had my record(and rant) on the screen.
I was offered an upgrade on both contracts plus a £5 reduction on both line rentals and 2 new Nokia 6500 slider phones.
This is a cracking deal but 18 month contracts:+(
If I wanted a Viewty it was a different story-no deals and lots of cash upfront unless I wanted a mega tariff.
Problem is I really like LG phones and yes I know i`m being picky but there you go.
My E-Bay KS10 has arrived and apart from a snapped data lead it seems fine.
Can get 02 and orange 2g (presumably three`s piggy back service) but no 3.
Looks like I will be going sim only and having read the threads giving Vodafone a try.
I did notice some free web allowance on 02 also.
So will make that call to three over the weekend-shame after 4 fairly happy years.
Will report on my "New" phone elsewhere once i have had a good play.

Mixed bag there. Thanks for keeping us in the loop! I'm sure those Nokia's would be really great, but if they're not the handsets you want then I think you're doing the right thing.
There are some great SIM Only deals around for that new phone of yours, I'm sure we'd all love to lay down our suggestions :D

Having had a quick look the o2 simplicity tarrif charges the same for voice and video calls.
Also picture and video messages are classed as 4 texts but again come from your allowance.
The plan is to keep within my set budget so this should be ideal as 400 texts is ample for me.
Havn`t done much web browsing on a mowbly before as 3 has their own content pages as im sure you all know.
the o2 also gives a small amount of web content so at present seems the best deal for me.
Anybody know about this symbian interface on my phone??

I love the LG Viewty and it really comes into it's own when you have a network that allows you to use lots of on-line services at a reasonable price. In that respect 3 cant be beat. Free Skype, MSN, Yahoo messenger, Yahoo/Google Search, Yell and loads of free video and content on Planet 3. For a fiver a month you get a huge 1GB of Internet on the handset too and there's TV for 49p a day and free answerphone ... it goes on and on... vastly more than most others and you tailor your monthly payment to suit your needs in terms of minutes and texts.
Amazing value, great phone just one slight gripe... calls still drop quite a lot and coverage for data use is pretty patchy even in big cities. Bottom line is if you get good, stable 3 coverage where you need to use a Viewty there is no real compeditor in terms of price or range of services.
Keep up the pressure on 3 UK and I am sure if you liked 3 before you will love what you can do with a Viewty.

Must admit im a bit sad to be leaving 3 as between me and my girlfriend we have had 9 phones over 4 years all of which were fine although a couple of the NEC hansets were in hindsight a bit naff!
As for planet 3 as I have to agree with you there.
Gonna give them my 30 days notice tomorrow.
I am going to a pay monthly sim on a 30 day contract probably O2 which means I could always go back to 3 if I can get a handset I want at a price I want to pay.
May wait to see if they get the KS20-That looks seriously smart.

Have got my PAC code after a bit of hard sell from 3 css.
Last offer was Nokia 6120 and reduction on my price plan from £25 to £13.
The technical bods recon my LG KS10 cant work with planet 3 although I got internet up fine on saturday.
Does anybody know if planet 3 and MMS are different on 3?
So looks like O2 as tried a friends sim and got a txt within 5 minutes (unrequested) with wap and mms software for the phone.
200 mins 400 txts for £15pcm is too good to pass up especially as voice and vid calls cost the same and mms count as 4 txts all from allowance.
£7.50web add on and I`m hopefully flying!
My LG has a symbian operating system (Carefull how you spell that one dont miss out the "m"!) which im starting to enjoy using and is extremely user friendly.
The phone was origionally designed for 1254 Italia.
