They're offering free SIMs here (http://freesim.o2.co.uk/messages.php?f=vAo4PEhRE&p=&id=455)

The above is their latest PAYG tariff. A pretty good offer if you can get your friends and family on to O2. Not quite so good if you can't. The intended lock-in is entirely transparent, but why not?

The only downside appears to be that O2 have dropped their inclusive 300 free texts with their £10 minimum top up per month scheme. That is a shame really, as it was a good deal for the kids and pretty much drove O2 to the pole position that they once enjoyed. I hope that I have misread something on their portal, but if not then it is a bit of a shame.

But it does seem that O2 have got something of a second wind now as their tariffs are improving beyond recognition. Their changes to the iPhone tariffs were extraordinary. Cynics may say that was just to boost iPhone sales, and it may well have been. But they are also applying significant changes across the board with what is turning out to be a 100% tariff review. Their SIM-only tariffs are superb now, and these PAYG rates are as impressive.

More please, and would the rest of the networks care to join in?
