Pay As You Go range of handsets, from Asda. Price hits rock bottom.

Asda is now offering a pay-as-you-go phone for just £5. Other retailers demand that you purchase £10 in call credit when you buy a similarly cheap phone. Asda, however, has declared that there are no such strings attached to its offer.

An Asda spokesman commented to the Daily Mail that, ""It's great for people whose regular mobile phone is perhaps broken or they want a back up, or those who have come to this country for just a few weeks."

The offer covers the Nokia 1112, Sagem My212x, Sagem My220x and Sagem My150x with tariffs from Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin featuring calls to landlines starting from 12p/minute.

Might be handy for the criminal community - completely untraceable and cheap too!
