Its not only the adverts but the fact they rip of kids, I was checking our company mobiles the other day and found 3 phones had been charged 12 a month from Jamster. This was all because they had signed up to get the crazy frog ringtone many moons ago. You imagine these kids who see these adverts and then get charged 12 quid a month

It was in the paper that a kid downloaded the tone and ended up with a near on £200 bill after only a few months.

I tried Jamster from a review phone and within 5mins of texting them i had 4 messages back already (no doubt at a charge).

Dont get me wrong i REALLY LIKE the Frog but i DONT like Jamster ripping people off

They should just ban the subscription model for premium rate shortcodes and revert things to how they used to be when you texted in, got what you wanted, and that was the end of it.

I agree and I think its going to have to be a call for OFCOM

OFCOM wont touch it - I had this out when reverse-billed SMS first hit the streets and my kid was a victim of it. This is regulated by ICSTIS and they have the power of enforcement and fining. Although it is interesting to read that none of the co's they have fined so far have paid any monies. Its strange that the other European nations are managing to control these abuses of technology but for some strange (sic) reason we are not. Even the mobile ops reckon that it will be difficult to restrict or manage, but don't go as far as to say exactly why not! Grrrrr

Burn the lot of them at the stake, I say.

Not only are Jamster not paying their fine to ICSTIS but they are also not honouring their pledge to pay back to customers who have asked for money back for ringtones etc not received (Mail on Sunday today). Although the "owner" does say that he delayed the release of funds back to customers because of a German holiday! Seems it went on for weeks then .......!

They should pay up in full out of the royalties they will earn from the Axel-F/Crazy Frog ringtone No 1 single.

I dislike all Jamster products but have to admit they probably deserve their success for their persistance. At least their products work for those who pay their cash.
