Today I was in my local O2 Store thats just had a major refit. In the shop the previously cheap, wooden bench used for the iPhone 3G display was coated in bright white plastic and the store and bench were covered in posters saying "Your online life will never be the same again! Coming Soon".

Anyone got any clue what this means?(note; there were no iPhone 3G's anywhere in sight. No posters. Nothing)

Maybe an iPhone 3G Nano :D

Do I need one... No! Do I want one... Yes! Will I get one... Yes!

Then again, it's probably not anything to do with it.. just my wish list! :-)

It's odd, I mean Apple wouldn't 'announce' anything new via an O2 shop, surely, which makes you wonder if O2 will be pulling back from the iPhone 3G for now and concentrating on something else until Apple release a new one.

The new Palm maybe?

It's the "online life" that puzzles me. I wonder if it's a new O2 Active style service. The coming soon part makes me think it's a new service rather than an advert for O2 Active?

Just to add a little fuel to the fire, ive seen on a few websites reports that O2 is in talks with micro-blogging site, Twitter, to allow free access from O2 phones.

Likely?

"O2 is in talks with micro-blogging site, Twitter, to allow free access from O2 phones"

Thats great, givin the fact that o2 has a crap 3g network, if you ask me the twits in o2 need to fix that first!

More likely they'd offer some sort of SMS deal - like including texts to Twitter in user's free SMS bundle and/or making it free for O2 customers to receive Tweets by SMS.

Twitter are trying to do deals with the mobile phone operators in key countries at the moment. Basically Twitter had to shut down the SMS part of it's service in countries like the UK because we pay-to-send. In the US, it's pay-to-receive, so Twitter 'just works' because the company isn't having to bear any costs.
