Much like my previous update to 3.0, 3.1 didn't go well. The 3.1 firmware downloaded quite quickly but I got an error 1604 and the update process failed. I had to put the phone in dfu mode and turned off Kaspersky my anti virus. Eventually my 3gs was running 3.1. The Mrs 3g also failed with error 1604 and I had to update that from another laptop in the end. Tried different USB ports, reboots but it just wouldn't update on my desktop pc.
Changes I have noticed are no distortion on full volume when playing music out of the speaker. A faster snappier feel to the ui and holding 3G signal seems a bit better, might just be wishful thinking though eh:p
As for iTunes 9 there seems to be lots more option and it's all better arranged. The first backup of the phone took ages but seems ok again now. Quite suprised to see no talk of the updates here already.
