Thick and fast, that is the frequency of Android 2.2 (Froyo) updates that are happening.

As recently as this time last week we had FRF85 as the official OTA release of Android 2.2 (codename Froyo). This was supposed to be it. The OTA release candidate.

Yes now, a week on, we have FRF92 out in the wild, although I have been having to update manually as the OTA seems not to have reached the UK shores, ever! There is absolutely no harm in manual updates, if you wait long enough and a successor OTA arrives your Nexus One will automatically prompt you to install that.

Google are being very tight-lipped about what is in all of these updates. Someone, somewhere, must know but they aren't giving it up.

Needless to say, these updates are not for fun only, and so if you have climbed upon the Android 2.2 Froyo bandwagon it is advisable to pop these updates on.

There now follows a link to an article with links to the installer and instructions how to --> http://tinyurl.com/2vf9uto

If any of you find out what is in FRF92 please pop a posting up on here. Ta :)

No problem, I was just curious as it would have been so quick an update. :)

frf91 seems to be security update, which I think i spotted when downloading. This link seems to confirm it.

I have a week off planned soon and if froyo isn't available for the Desire by then, I'll be rooting it and installing a custom rom! I don't like this feeling that I'm missing out ;-)

Trying to wait for an OTA update on the Nexus One! Nobody has had it on the Desire OTA yet?

The OTA for the generic Google Nexus One is, allegedly, being rolled out. Over the next couple of weeks we should see it hit these shores.

Owners of mobile operator branded Nexus One will have to wait for the individual operator to approve the release - that will take several weeks longer at the very least.

The generic Desire OTA is also due out shortly after the Nexus One and the same delays apply to operator-branded ROMs. Given Orange's draconian branding I would expect that company's Desire handsets to be the last to receive an OTA.

If anyone is on a Desire and contemplating de-branding and/or rooting (the two are not synonymous) I would suggest waiting until the forums are showing successes and that there is not a repeat of the broken WiFi situation when de-branding Orange HTC Desires.
