Galaxy S owners who accept Samsung's offer of updated firmware will invalidate their warranty according to Vodafone, which wishes to remain the only source of official upgrades.

this is unbelievable.

Incredulous!

Are Vodafone trying to completely demolish their public image? Are they deliberately going out of their way to piss off the faithful, the high spenders, the Internet socialites?

Someone bang some heads together, would you please?

Vodafone have finally lost the plot, it seems they are now actively trying to annoy their customers. Personally I would ignore their threats and if I had any problems I'd cut out the idiot middle man and just contact Samsung. :)

It is hard to add further voice to the incredulity above. Vodafone seem to be on some kind of commercial suicide mission. What on earth are they thinking? This all looks very much like extreme folly.

Lol, what a sorry state of affairs. At least the outcome was the right one.

I have not seen any warnings and have been using Kies to transfer files from the phone to the PC etc. I have not attempted to update any firmware although that facility exists via an icon on Kies.

I will await the Vodafone Android 2.2 update which I believe is scheduled for September.

I am impressed at how Vodafone have dealt with the Galaxy S so far. There is no 'branding' as such and outwith preferred roaming partners I have noticed nothing on the device that is related to a specific network.

Hoping that policy is maintained.

Actually, I quite like the Green N8 from all of the other colour schemes - very Kawasaki (appeals to the motorcyclist in me).

But the overriding question is "Would I want a Symbian 3 handset from Nokia?" ... The jury is out ...

just to drag this entire post off topic. If I was looking at Symbian 3, I'd try the C7 first
