Not sure if this is a widely known / appreciated thing , or just co-incidence ? But I like to change my mobile number every now and again - there always seem to be idiots I am glad to get away from (one day I'll just stop giving my number to idiots , LOL ! )
Anyway , the point is , I have noticed several times now that my newly appointed number bears somewhat of a resemblance to one of my existing numbers - with sequences of up to 4 numbers matching , in fact my current o2 iPhone contract supplied a pretty cool number - imagine my Home number was 01234 567 890 - Well , o2 supplied me with the number 7890 7890 799 - (you see what I mean ? )

Again with the number Three have just supplied me , Although the rest of the number is nothing special , there is a 4 digit sequence which matches my o2 number (which I submitted as my mobile number )

Does anyone know if this is some kind of "matching" service ? as it seems to have happened a few times now
