From the 24th November 2010 we will no longer be able to support the use of the 1471 last call information service for our Mobile Customers.

We have 3 other services that offer a much better experience for you

• Voicemail
• Visual Voicemail for our iPhone customers (except P&G)
• O2 Call Alert service.

From 24th November if you call 1471, you will hear an automated message advising of the closure of 1471 and how to switch on the alternative Voicemail or the O2 Call Alert Service.

• Voicemail - You can dial 1750 free from your handset to activate your Voicemail.
• Visual Voicemail - is automatically activated when you activate the iPhone via your PC and iTunes.
• O2’s free Call Alert Service – You can dial 1710 free from your handset.

Once Call Alert is switched on we will send you a free text message for every missed call with all the call details.

Nasty O2.

In regard to 1750 "free from your handset ..." - well, they're not lying ... but ...

How much does it cost?
If you've got O2 Call Alert it's free to receive the text update, whether you're in the UK or abroad.

If you're calling someone with O2 Call Alert you'll be charged your standard tariff rate unless you withhold your number, then it's free.

Full details on Call Alert is here http://www.o2.co.uk/support/generalhelp/howdoi/o2callalert

So its money in the bank all the way with O2.

Expect more, and from the other GSMA cartel members too I dare say.
