Google has been sending out OTA the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, formerly 2.3.1 now being updated to 2.3.2. This update contains a number of fixes, not the least being to the SMS bug where messages could end up being sent to the wrong recipient.

The update should be arriving OTA, but for those who do not want to wait this is the method to do it manually. This is a harmless process - just follow each step carefully. Take your time.

Caution: This is not for rooted Nexus S handsets

Download the update file from here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XBNDV9EH)
Connect your Nexus S to your computer, enable USB mode and open Explorer/Finder to the device
Copy the file to the root of your Nexus S - there is no need to change the filename
Turn off the phone
Turn on the phone while holding down Volume Up and Power until the phone starts
Using the Volume rocker scroll to the Recovery menu item
Press the Power key to select this option
When you see ! press Power and Volume Up to bring up the next menu
Use the Volume Up/Down to navigate to the update file you copied on to the SD card earlier
Press the Power button to select that file
The update process will begin, it will take a little while to complete, a scroll bar on the screen will show the progress.
When it completes press the Power button to "reboot system now"
Thats it, you're done. Enjoy the new patched firmware.
