It's good to see Microsoft softening up the ground. They've got a massive mountain to climb, a good social strategy will be essential to get momentum on an initial buzz until manufacturing juggernaut Nokia opens the floodgates.

I've read the press. I've watched the adverts. I've even, courtesy of Three, had one on loan for several weeks - a rather nice Samsung Omnia 7. But for the life of me, I cannot see this being too much of a threat to the incumbent smartphone makers. It just feels like Microsoft is doing a "me too" against Apple. I'm looking for the differentiator, anything at all would do, but fail to find one. What is WP7 exactly for?
