Samsung today announced its 5in tablet-phone thingamajig, the Galaxy Note, is heading to the UK in November.

Unveiled at IFA 2011, the Samsung Galaxy Note runs on a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It packs a 5.3in display with a 1280 x 800 resolution and an 8Mp camera, and comes in the choice of 16GB or 32GB versions.

Whether or not the tablet becomes a success commercially remains to be seen. Dell's attempt at a similar 5in tablet was canned after a lack of interest. Earlier this year, it seemed, people weren't keen on what is essentially an oversized smartphone. Perhaps now things will pan out differently.

The Samsung Galaxy Note hits UK shelves on 17 November. Its price has yet to be announced.

Could be popular, I think.

I Love it ! , therefore it is probably doomed.

I'd have it over the Galaxy S2 , and conider it to BE an S2 with a bigger screen.

I love it , everyone else will hate it , it will fail IMO

I like the look of it. Ideal for a briefcase perhaps.

Would need to see one in the flesh to get a proper idea of the size but the 5" screen is a big attraction.

For me it's either too big or not big enough! It's a bit big to use with one hand and not really big enough to use as a tablet. It will definitely appeal to a niche market though. It will be interesting to see what price it will retail at sim free.
