Thumbs up T-Mobile offer 1/2 price line rental for life

From Mobile Today (02/08/2005):

T-Mobile has begun offering 18-month customers half-price line rental for as long as they stay on their contracts without upgrading or changing tariffs.
In a deal that echoes the appeal of Virgin’s contract offers, customers who sign up for 18 months on T-Mobile’s Relax 100, 200 or 400, Off-peak 500 or Freetime 750 tariffs will be offered half-price line rental for the first six and final three months of their contracts. Once their contracts end, they will be able to stay on half-price line rental indefinitely as long as they don’t upgrade to a new handset or switch tariffs.

The promotion will be available to all T-Mobile retailers and dealers. However, while the offer may prove a saviour for T-Mobile’s churn rates, independent dealers Mobile has spoken to say it could effectively kill their upgrade business on the network. ‘No customer will come in for an upgrade if it means they’ll have to go back to full-price line rental,’ said one dealer.

The new promotion is set to launch this week. Customers who sign up with T-Mobile online or via phone will also be offered extended half-price line rental on its Everyone Off-peak 750, Relax 150 and Relax 300 tariffs.
