Default Vodafone cranks up 3G data rates for autumn

Starts upgrade to 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 1.44Mbps HSUPA.

All in all, can't be a bad thing. I didn't think the operators would be interested in HSUPA just yet, but I'm glad the deployment is starting.

This is Vodafone leapfrogging the opposition - HSUPA has to be the way to go for mobile laptops and portables. I wonder if they'd be interested in competing against 3 for the Student/Flat-dwellers.

Talking with a friend who is ex-pat in Hong Kong the other day - he has the local (standard) DSL offering which is 8Mbps SDSL for £15pcm. Its the standard offering. They don't even know what ADSL is out there.

Us leading the world? Don't make me laugh.

Oh that is going to be so very easy to do with Vodafone's Data tariffs as they stand at this moment. £7.50 for a meagre 120MB per month, or £1 a day for a whopping great [not] 14MB per day. If you go over the allowance you'll be penalised with a £2 per 1MB charge!

It all makes one wonder how Vodafone can possibly make a living with those Data tariffs!

p.s.: As usual with Mobile operators - these data tariffs were really hard to locate on the website. It took over 10 minutes of searching to locate this page! Vodafone take note, it does not inspire confidence that we're being looked after. Makes one feel that Vodafone have something to hide. They don't, do they?
