Unhappy Whoops...

Just tried to update the firmware on my N73 using the NSU.

It didn't work... "Umm.. I dink I broked it!"

I'm getting the message "Phone start-up failing. Contact the retailer."

Whoops...

The lovely people at Vodafone are sending me a replacement tomorrow...
I'll get back to you with an update then...

Lmao, oh dear! That's really not a good sign, I wonder how many handsets the NSU has managed to kill so far

Still, good to hear a replacement is on the way!

Well -

Now I've got my replacement I can tell the truth!

Hehe

Basically - it transpires that the update is not available to UK users yet as it is awaiting operator approval..

So clever old me got some software (Nemesis Software Suite or something) hacked my phone to change the product ID to the european code..

I plugged it into the NSU and it liked it - right up until the point the new software tried to work with Vodafone..

Thats when it died.

Whoops.

So I think there's a lesson to be learned by everyone here!

PS - Fortunately I backed up everything and removed my memory card before I did it.

PPS - The new handset has just arrived and there's no branding on it! WHOOP WHOOP!
