  1. Chucklevision

Nothing represents life better than the to-me-to-you struggle of the Chuckle Brothers. The amount of time I spend in conversations where neither party understands what the other is saying probably far outweighs those where both party comes away feeling like they've accomplished something productive. Perhaps my readers suffer the same dilemma... a thought I'll not dwell on.

Perhaps clarity comes naturally to some of us. I'd like to think that clarity comes better to my writing than ...

  2. Dignified Public Transport

I don't go into London very often, but the only 'really practical' way to get in, out, and around while there, is to use public transport. Cars are fantastic where the population is sparse, but I absolutely detest sitting in traffic and navigating complicated road systems clearly not designed by anybody and suitable for nothing bigger than a pushchair.

  3. Just for now

We have something pretty special going on. Sure, we're not taking weekend trips to the moon or anything, but we have incredible technologies that can bring us together like never before, computers than can solve problems faster than we can, and shops that sell nothing but coffee.

Today I've resisted the temptation to be lazy and take the crawl from Whitstable to London Victoria, so I've hopped down to Canterbury West for a crack at High Speed 1: http://www.highspeed1.com/

This journey should, in theory, take less than an hour, stopping just twice at Ashford International and Ebsfleet International - where at the former, in theory, things should speed up dramatically as we get onto some new track. In fact, as I type this, we've just veered away from the main ...

  5. Anti-Google sentiment building?

As a general observation, I've noticed an increasing amount of anti-Google sentiment around the web, mostly in comments but also on TV (that BBC2 programme about the Internet focussed heavily on Google's domination last week) and in the news. Today it's Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao's turn, as he suggests that there are choice implications when what he's really screaming is *somebody regulate this giant before there's no ad revenue left for the rest of us*. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2...s-google-power ...
