Come on then, who's interested in one of these?

The Register has just put up a review. It's critical, but nicely balanced I think. It actually makes me really want to play with one. You can read it here: http://www.reghardware.com/2011/11/2..._ebook_reader/

There are many, many compromises as one would expect from a tablet that's a fraction of the cost (and, note, size) of an iPad 2, but there's one feature of note and that's the 169ppi screen, vs 132ppi on the Apple tablet juggernaut. This is going to make reading books nicer, an important feature of a Kindle product.

I have a suspicion that those buying a Fire expecting a cheap tablet computer out of the box will, ultimately, be disappointed. However, those buying it as an Amazon content consumption device, as a Kindle, essentially, should love it. And as for those who buy it to hack it into a 'real' tablet computer, well, we'll just have to see how good the custom ROMs are, won't we?
