Default N73 Internet Edition

Ok - so I just found this:

http://thenokiablog.com/2006/12/08/h...ernet-edition/

It's a guide on how to upgrade your N73 from as is to Internet Edition

After my last attempt at doing this I was quite reluctant see here: https://talk3g.co.uk/showthread.php?t=3561
..so you've been warned!

But anyway - I thought - sod it - why not..
..and what d'ya know!

IT WORKED!

My firmware was v2.0628.0.0.1

It's now v3.0638.0.0.43

Woot!

Whatley's got a shiny new Internet Edition N73 which also has all the features of an N73 ME too!

How cool! I'm tempted to try given my few random resets on the current firmware, but I might wait a little longer for an official update to my version first. I've already got Live Messenger and I don't really use the handset as a music player since I got the Nano so I figure it's a bit too risky for me at the mo, especially as I'm loving the handset so much!

Stunner innit!

I think I figured out why it broke last time though..

..I did a back up of all of the content before I upgraded and then tried to restore once the upgrade was complete. This time I haven't done that and everything's fine.

I think I remember reading somewhere that trying to restore old info onto a changed firmware will break the handset..

So yeah - I've avoided that this time.

I've got the funky graphic equaliser for the MP3 player and everything.
T'is very swish.

Will report on anymore differences later..

Will this remove network operator software or does that need to be done first? Finally going to get mine......

Removes ALL network operator software...

It's risky but I thought it was worth it.

PLEASE - Bear in mind I bricked my phone twice attempting this...

..and I can't emphasize enough - do NOT do a backup/restore.

Sync your contacts to the PC and store your images/mp3s etc - then format your MiniSD card.
Wipe it - completely.

Do the whole thing and then sync your contacts back to your phone, drag and drop any images and mp3s and stuff and then go from there.

Even doing it that way is risky - but it worked for me.

Good luck dude - and feel free to come abck with your progress.

When it bricked - did you try Green+*+3 ?

I got "start up failed contact retailer" when i flashed my e61 , and it sorted that out

i upgraded my vanilla n73 to the music edition and it rocks. I am thinking about upgrading it to the internet edition as I am missing my shortcut key.

Although am i right in saying that when upgrading to the ie version you will not have sms predictive text support for european languages - ie italian, french etc ?

Please let me know.

Um.. I don't know!

Sorry - you might be right though - in that I had to change my product code to an asian one..

Therefore I would imagine that european T9 would not be part of the upgrade..
