Today comes the news that T-Mobile UK, and quite possibly Orange UK, will stock the last-generation "iPhone 3G" for sale on their networks.

The iPhone 3G has, curiously, remained in production by Apple despite it's successor, the 3GS, having widespread availability. The motive for this appears clear - the 3G is cheaper to produce, and allows Apple to target a larger slice of the market without having to create a 'mid range' phone.

A lot of people experience pretty crap Internet connectivity with 3G broadband. The experience doesn't discriminate based on network, either. I think it's quite a widely held view that Vodafone operate the best mobile data network in the UK, but I've a friend that struggles to get any use out of hers at all in a few locations.

We got an iPod Touch at the office today to use as a development device, primarily because of Apple's 3.0 wisdom. Having an iPod Touch as a dedicated iPhone OS testbed also makes a lot of sense moving forward, and it may just take a bullet of bad code otherwise destined for my iPhone some day
